It's shaping up to be a good holiday weekend to go fishing. The big stripers have arrived and are being caught from Island Beach State Park to Sandy Hook by boats using jigs and livelining bunker. Guys on the beach have been treated to a couple of blitzes in Long Branch with fish up to 40 pounds catching them on pencil poppers.
The fluke have also made a strong appearance since opening day, with lots of limits on party boats out of Atlantic Highlands fishing in Raritan Bay. They are also all over the Shark, Navesink, Shrewsbury and Manasquan rivers. Now's the time to go fishing.
